The jidur is a double-headed drum found in Malay folk music. The frame is made from hard wood, usually wood from the jackfruit tree. The drum skin is made of cow or goat skin and is reinforced with iron structures. Jidur is struck using wooden beaters, to accompany the Kuda Kepang and Kemplingan dances which flourish in Johor. (Nik Mustapha, 1998).
