Name: GEDUK
The geduk is a short barrel-shaped double-headed drum found in Malay folk music. It is placed upright facing the player who strikes one skin head with a pair of wooden sticks.
The short body is carved from a tree trunk while the cow hide skins are attached to the body with glue and wooden pegs. They are found in pairs in wayang kulit and menora orchestras of north Malaysia. The pairs consist of large and small sized drums called ibu (mother) and anak (child) respectively. (Matusky, 1985).
