Nasyid

Nasyid is a form of Muslim religious song, sung in harmony to the accompaniment of local and Middle Eastern frame drums played in interlocking rhythms. National level nasyid competitions are held frequently in Malaysia and there has been a recent revival of interest in the form which is also packaged and marketed as a popular music form. (Zainal Alam Kadir 1997).
