FOLK DANCE FORM: Indung
Indung songs were originally sung by women
during the weeding of paddy fields, specifically being practised only in the
rural interior of the Pahang state. The songs were
supposed to be sung across several days to accompany weeding work, and always
began and ended with the song Anak Indung. Most of the songs are slow and
lack any consistent rhythm. Indung may be best described as a collection of
lyrical poems expressed through various melodies with lyrical turns. (Chan, 1998 and 2001)
